Code of Behaviour

Staff continue to operate our system of assertive discipline. We reward good behaviour and identify our ‘stars of the week’ in achievement assemblies and in newsletters.

In all lessons that we monitored, pupil behaviour and attitudes were of an acceptable or good standard. Visitors, including other Headteachers and Local Authority staff, have commented on the fact that the school is always calm and has a ‘good feel’.

In classrooms we have a series of sanctions for inappropriate behaviour. The school uses 'restorative practices' to resolve and reconcile issues and problems. Within this, pupils are accountable for and responsible to themselves and their peers.

There are four school houses, which are named after famous Hull characters: Johnson, Pearson, Sullivan and Wilberforce. House points are awarded for good work and good behaviour. These are added up at the end of the week and a race chart in the assembly hall tracks the progress of each house. The winning house receives a special treat.

See our behaviour policy for further details.
