On 27th March 1988, Stepney Primary witnessed an historic event as an iron age boat was lifted over its roof!

The Hasholme boat, which is now preserved in the Hull and East Riding Museum, had been discovered beneath a farmer's field at Holme-on-Spalding Moor. It was then transfered to Beverley Road Baths, where it was treated by specialists. In 1988, it made its final journey from the Baths to the museum. After a hole was made in the wall of the Baths, it was then brought out into our playground then lifted, by crane, over the top of the school. See below to see newspaper cuttings and original photographs of the day.
